Aurora: Chapter One


"I see her behind the glass window of the library organizing books and she's the most beautiful creature I've ever seen."

My name is Liam and let me  introduce myself a little more. I am 27 years old and I was born in Pennsylvania in a small town  called Lebanon, as an only child. I was there until I was about to be 10.

As a 10-year-old, I had nothing to tie me down in such a small town, but my neighbor also my best friend, Aurora. She was who I spent almost all my evenings with but again I was just a child and wherever my parents went I followed.

My parents decided to move to France and the rest of my childhood I spent there. I had home school all the time but it wasn't only regular school, it was something like a physical training as well. And then Changes began.

I was 15 when these changes started. I started feeling stronger, a lot faster and i even felt like I was growing up faster but I didn't know any better so I thought it was normal. My home school teacher/trainer, Madeline, became something like my mentor. She made me be what I am now. One morning I was ready to start studying but she changed the course of the class. Madeline told me to close my eyes and concentrate only on my breathing, to think about nothing but my breathing and to desire for something I knew i could not easily have, immediately i thought about Aurora and wonder where could she be right now. At that very moment I started feeling warm all over and then numbness in my legs and arms and suddenly tingling in the back of my head running down my spine. Not knowing  what the feeling was I opened my eyes and suddenly there is something weird with my eyes! My sight is different, I can adjust it, zoom in and zoom out, focus in only one thing. I look up at my mentor and I can't speak. She put a mirror right in front of me and all I see is a Bold Eagle. Horrified I jumped off of my chair and instantly I turned into me again.

Terrified " WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?" and that's when she said the words with her soothing voice, "Welcome, You're a Shape shifter"

I was shocked but I was only 15 so I also thought it was awesome. I started sneaking out the house, doing things without getting caught, in conclusion earning my share of enemies and that's what brings me back to Lebanon.

I was back in my hometown! I did not know for what but I was back. The first thing i thought of was Aurora. I started driving around town, in my rented 2010 Taurus, to check for any differences from what I remember since its been 17 years since I was here last. While I was driving around I went by the house that once was mine and then Aurora's house was right next to it. It was sometime in the evening when i drove by and a girl caught my eye but I could not tell who it was.

That night I decided to go in a little scavenger hunt, to say it that way. I can shift into anything I want to but this night needed a great eye and a good set of wings, Bold Eagle! As soon as I shifted I went my old house and I just sat on a branch from a tree right next to room that used to be Aurora's. I sat there for hours and hours and nothing moved at all, until it was like 11 at night and the light turned on and there was the girl I've been wanting to see so bad. She had long, curly, golden blond hair, with big aqua blue eyes, full lips, and a perfect natural tanned skin, that was Aurora, my Aurora. I didn't know that even when I shifted I could have some kind of human feelings. I did not realize how much I've missed her. I heard her say she was going to be at a library tomorrow at ten a.m. and since I already had what I came for I flew back to the apartment my parents had bought for me many years ago.

The next morning I walked to the library since it was not so far from my apartment and when I got there I see her behind the glass window of the library organizing books and she's the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. I decide to go in the library and try and get to talk to her, I hope she remembers me. I see her moving to the check out desk and stay there to come realize she's a librarian, of course! I know how much she loves books, or at least from what I remember. So I picked up a book, any book and went to check out.

"Cooking for Dummies?" Said Aurora.
I left out a giggle, "Yes, a friend of mine needs to learn"
"Well sir, do you have a membership here?" She still hadn't looked up from the desk, "If you give me your license I can easily sign you up and give you a membership card."
She definitely looked so happy and like she enjoys her job. "No ma'am I don't but I would want one, it seems like I'm going to be around for a while anyways, here's my license"
She read the name in the license and with a surprised face looked up "LIAM!" She ran around the desk and jumped to give me a hug. "You don't know how much I've missed you man!" she said "I'm so glad you're here, when did you get here?" I replied "A couple of days ago, but I've missed you too, Listen I would stick around if I could but I know you're working and I would love to have more time with you, here's my phone number, please call me so we could go out for a coffee or something"
"Sure, we definitely need to do some catching up, I'll give you a call tonight then" she said, and i replied "You do that, See ya!" "Goodbye!"
